PROGIRA joins 5G-MAG

PROGIRA has joined 5G Media Action Group (5G-MAG), a cross-industry association launched at IBC 2019. 5G-MAG is a market-driven organization that brings stakeholders of the media, automotive and telecommunication sectors together to establish a standard, operational framework for implementing 5G solutions. One of their key objectives is to promote the collaboration of various stakeholders in creating a convergent 5G infrastructure that includes high power, high tower (HPHT) as well as satellite, besides mobile cellular networks.  There are currently 36 members in 5G-MAG, many who are broadcasters and network operators.

Another of 5G-MAG’s goals is to ensure swift roll-outs of 5G networks that can achieve 100% coverage of area and population.   PROGIRA plan – the radio-frequency network planning software – will be instrumental to help clients reach these targets of 5G deployments. As early as September 2018, PROGIRA has already introduced new features into PROGIRA plan – our radio-frequency network planning software – to enable planning of FeMBMS/5G Broadcast networks.  Therefore, users can now perform simulations, and coverage predictions of networks using 5G or FeMBMS/5G Broadcast standards.   PROGIRA plan would unquestionably be instrumental in helping 5G network planners reach this target of achieving 100% territorial and population coverage.

As a member of 5G MAG, PROGIRA wants to prove their dedication to stay ahead in developing planning solutions that will support the deployment of 5G solutions in a convergent infrastructure. Our membership in 5G-MAG is essential since the majority of PROGIRA plan user are broadcasters and network operators. “It’s our commitment to assure all users of PROGIRA plan are at the forefront of network planning technology,” said Patrik Engstedt, CEO of PROGIRA.  PROGIRA will focus on aligning PROGIRA plan’s developmental efforts to help users develop and optimize 5G network infrastructures, as 5G-MAG’s operational framework firms up.  Furthermore, the 5G-MAG membership would put PROGIRA in the best position to offer clients guidance and recommendations in their 5G network planning projects.
